Worn-out air cleaner housing mounts are a common culprit.

This is a set of three brand new rubber mounts from URO Parts, specifically designed for the W123 chassis, including the 300CD, 300D, 300SD, 300T, and similar models.

The part number is 617-988-01-11 (also 6179880111).

These are the little rubber biscuits that isolate the air filter housing from the engine, stopping vibration and keeping everything snug.

They're a cheap and easy fix that makes a big difference.

Just pop the old, hardened ones out and push these new ones in.

Your air cleaner will sit tight and quiet again.
