If your Shindaiwa articulating hedge trimmer is sputtering or won't stay running, the carburetor might be the culprit.

Here's a brand new, direct replacement carburetor from fix_my_engine.

It fits both the AH242 and AHS242 models specifically.

It's a perfect match, and it comes with the gaskets and stuff you need to get it installed.
